When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?

You might be thinking of when is the best time to visit Sri Lanka? Sri Lanka is blessed with its all-year-round tropical climate thanks to its close proximity to the Equator.

Best time to visit in general (October to April)

So Sri Lanka’s tourism season starts from October to April and many travelers visit Sri Lanka during this time.

Sri Lanka has two monsoons. The south, west, and the hills are driest from December to March, while the dry season in the north and east runs from April to September. It’s generally warm all year, but far cooler in the hills.

Best time to visit west and southern coastline (October to March)

Thinking of the beach?  The ideal time to visit southern resorts situated in Negombo, Bentota, Unawatuna Mirissa, and Tangalle. Sea is calm during this time and ideal for sea swim and snorkeling.

Best time to visit Nuwara Eliya (April)

Arugam Bay in Sri Lanka is known to be a surfers paradise. The best time to visit Arugam Bay is during the month of May to September. During these times the waves are pleasant enough for all types of surfers, whether you are a beginner or a pro.
